Our Mission
The Giving Tree is a haven of hope for children around the world. It is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist the needs of children globally. We are partnered with the Sahasra Deepika Foundation which is dedicated to providing education for underprivileged children as well as opportunities to secure their future. Together, we are focused on helping children who have no means to achieve their dreams.
In order to reach our goal and support our global cause, The Giving Tree organizes events, fundraisers, outreach programs and community projects. These events are organized to benefit children in need and help change their future for the better. One such opportunity is the foundation's Spelling Bee which is an outreach program for disadvantaged children from Bangalore's most impoverished schools. The Giving Tree has been successfully supporting this program by conducting fundraisers at their school whose proceeds have been used to provide educational scholarships for two consecutive years to the top 3 winners of the Bee. This is one of the many ways in which this nonprofit follows their mission and provides assistance to those in need.

Our Founders
Our founders, Tanvi Rakesh and Tara Rakesh are sisters and have a passion to help promote the education of underprivileged kids in India. Their goal is to be youth ambassadors and help impoverished children by raising funds for their education and making a positive impact in their lives.
They started The Giving Tree in the summer of 2018 after having met a bright young girl at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C from the Sahasra Deepika Foundation - an organization that helps needy girls get a better education. Upon meeting her, our founders learnt how hard it is for girls from underprivileged families to get a good education and succeed in life. Despite the hardships , this girl had won the Spelling Bee, earned a college scholarship and secured herself a good future. This story had a tremendous impact on Tanvi and Tara and motivated them to start The Giving Tree.
Their vision is to make a positive difference in the lives of needy children by providing them with education and a better future. In order to realize their dreams, they are partnered with the Sahasra Deepika Foundation. They can truly reach their goal and also brighten the lives of several young learners with a little help from you.
